Yes, Cats Do Care About Their Owners

A lot of people think cats are distant and cold and do not respond like dogs do as far as feelings and such! Well, do I have a little story for you! I am a diabetic type2 I acquired this lovely disease by having Hashimoto's and Graves Thyroid diseases, and yes you can have both types. They trade off placement according to what your body is trying to do along with the meds you have to take. I gained a whole person because of it which in turn gave me type2. Since then I have lost 50lbs and still need to loose 75 to 100lbs to be a normal human being again (to me anyway). People can be so mean sometimes, not knowing the story behind the flesh! That's why I am a recluse and prefer animals over humans. They do not judge you! They just love you for who you are as a person. They are good judges of character! :)
Anyway, late last night I was sitting on the couch playing on my computer when my feet started bothering me really bad. Another little goody that type2 likes play on besides your blood sugar. Oh the pain was so bad at the tips of my toes on my left foot it made me holler a few times, or whimper as it was about 3am. My kitty likes to lay across my left leg and under my arm and snuggle up against me. He will look up at my face with such loving eyes (like a child would do when you read them a book.) it will just melt your soul. And he does this most of the time while I am not looking back at him. But you can feel the staring and you have to glance down every now and then. lol I talk to him as you would a baby and I do spoil him rotten too!
He noticed my facial expression every time I had pain. And I was talking to him telling him Mom is OK and about the pain I was feeling. So every time I winced or groaned he started to look at my face and then at my feet, paying close attention to my left one. It makes your toes feel as if they are frozen or on the verge of frost bite. Very cold and hot at the same time with dull aching pain. If it were a color it would be gray with Dead lifeless dark numb overtones!  You get my drift, I hope!
I mentioned to him that I wish he would go and lay on my feet and get them warm to help ease the pain. And do you know the next time I whimpered he hopped down and did just that! He circled my bedroom shoes and my left foot was resting on top of my shoe and he laid his belly on my toes and foot and rested head on my other shoe until my pain stopped. And then when I was relaxed and calm and no longer making those weird faces he got up and rubbed against my legs kissed my foot and hopped back into my lap! I was amazed that he understood what I needed from him and he comforted me when I needed help. So you see they do care and do understand what you say to them. They listen! I love my little guy so much! He is my heart!
And to think someone threw him away in a dumpster! Brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it! The condition he was in was heartbreaking. He was so starved he looked like a kitten. And his ears were so packed with mites that he was deaf and I cleaned them out and used over 20 Q-tips both ends. But he could hear and you never saw a happier kitty in your life when he heard the sounds of our voices. I will look through my Pics and see if I can find his first few weeks with us so you can see the transformation.

What Were You Thinking!?

Kitty in the window in the kitchen with front paws propped up again the window pane and I'm sitting here eating Lay's potato chips wondering...why did I just open this bag! That's ok I learned how to read the labels and boy do they lay a guilt trip on your butt! Ok those are put away! Now what is going on for today? Hub left to see his Dad for a few. I am sitting here watching the cat and the house and wondering why! Ah I know, I don't drive anymore. So that meant I had to go to the store yesterday and buy groceries! But before that I cut some of the grass. So I was already tired before I started that venture into the aisles of despair!! Had a long list to get as I was just about empty in the pantry, which is unusual for me because I like to keep stocked up just incase of a storm or some sort of emergency. And I found, it's fine to put stuff in your cart but, to also check out and then put in car and then come home and put all away.... What a giant chore that was. I had seven bags of canned goods alone! I stated with one cart but after check out I had two, haha! Tell me I don't know how to pack a cart!!  So today I am tired and dragging butt because, I'm not used to doing all that in one day.
I am OLD, so that would explain a lot! Anyway, While at the store I found a toy for the cat. One of those kick me toys! And of course I thought how cute, it has feathers on the ends of it...Cool he'll like that a lot!! (I should have put on that Duh! hat right then and there).

So, I get home put all the fridge stuff away first and then sit down and give the cat his toy!
Oh he liked it a lot, as soon as he got it he pulled out two feathers...Snatched those up quick before he could eat them. Then he stepped back and pretended not to really care about it anymore. So I proceeded to go about my business. Well, that made him mad (leave me at home will ya, while you run the roads, I'll show you... humph!)  He snatched a big black feather out of the end, looked me straight in the eye and commenced to chew it up as if it were grass like some rabbit was eating.
I hollered and stepped towards him. He ran under the table, I hollered at him again, he came out and ran into his cardboard house (we dubbed it the Time Out Box, he goes in there when he gets in trouble)! Or I like call it The House of Pain. Because you do not want to stick your hand in it! Or any other part of your body for that matter! lol, He becomes Jack in the Box  from behind his little door!

He went in and I pick up house and dumped him out quick. But I was too late, he eat that feather in those few seconds. Oh I was so mad at myself for being such an idiot that I pulled all the feathers out of each end! The crackle sound I found out was just plain old cellophane and the feathers were glued in the ends of it, from that point you can see inside and it is that stuffing fluff, like in pillows. I was so mad, how could they sell something like that? It can choke a cat, if you don't watch them when they play. Because as soon as I took off the feathers, my cat untied the bow at one end! I had to retie that and then I put it away.  Of course I had a back up bag of toys, little balls and such so he wouldn't be disappointed! Those can have feather toys in them too but they do not have thick quills in the middle they are like little marabou feathers. And they do not hurt them, as far as I know, they will pass though. So later today I am going to stuff it with shredded newspaper and sew up the ends tight and then he can play with it. I'm going to write the company too I think and ask,...What were you thinking?

That was my adventure, so how was your day??

Fly Me To The Moon

Well, Sunday was the last night of the Super Moon, it was the closest to the earth it will have been all year. I took a few pictures on Friday night and a few tonight. I almost slept through it, thank goodness Charlee woke me up. He sits on the coffee table and says Mama over and over till I wake up. lol That can be annoying at 4:30 in the morning when he wants to eat his breakfast. Anyway back to the Moon. It was very pretty! I like seeing the crators and things on it. Here is a small pic of the wall I made from Friday's view. We had cloud coverage, so it looked awesome, like out of a movie!
And here is a shot from tonight close up in creator vision lol! Pretty huh? Not too bad with a 80x zoom Cannon Power Shot SX20is 12.1mp, not a Rebel but it'll do!
I know it looks freaky with the frame and all the funky stuff around it, but it looks better than the black surrounding it. I am just weird I guess in my artistic views, a little out of the box...dangling from the lid! :} Watch the bouncing ball!!

Yesterday, A Sad Day

I am so glad today is a little better than yesterday. I woke up to find my Pretty Girl (Yellow Pied-Cockatiel) at the bottom of her cage. I had her for 20 yrs. and she was the sweetest bird. She could talk a little, she would say Purty Girl, Purty-Purty-Purty, do the wolf call, and whistle like calling the dog into the room, and whistle the doot doot song (can't remember the name right now) and would give you kisses and loved to snuggle under your chin as if to give you hugs. Nibble on your ear. And play with anything shiny on your neck and run up and down your arm. lol And loved toys. My father and his girlfriend gave them to us in 93 (don't remember where they got them, but they were too messy for them to deal with! So I took them in and loved them till they have passed.) along with a male (Gray), who I called Mr. Meanie, because he was not very friendly like she was. He would just tolerate you, lol! I had to wear a glove to handle him, not with her though. He passed two years ago in the spring. So either it was her age or maybe she was missing him a bit. (I think the life expectancy for them is 25 years or less.) They do get attached to each other like humans. Although she was a little chipper when he was gone. lol I was expecting something to happen as I thought they were both hatched around the same time in 92. He may have been older, don't know. Her band on her leg let me know when she was hatched and that it was between Jan-June and she was egg number 30. She was happy and doing fine, no illness or anything, no stressful posture at all, just was gone when I got up yesterday morning. Here is a picture of her! She was a sweet girl! I will miss her silliness!!!
Sitting here enjoying the sun and the spring breeze (notice how she looks like a fat girl lol) on the back porch while I was cleaning the bottom of her cage out.

We had a house full of kids and a house full of animals...and now it's just Hub the Cat and myself! Sad how life passes by so quickly. You do not realize the years are catching up with you, with kids at home. Then when they leave and have a life of their own, it can be so empty here. Although I do love my kitty, like a child. Spoiled rotten to the core though lol.
My little boo-boo kitty. Hub found him in the trash outside of a fix-it shop. He was starving and had ear mites so bad he couldn't hear a thing. He ran up to my Hub and almost jumped into his arms. Next thing I knew, I was an owner of a new, what we thought was a kitten. I need to hunt through my files to find his story! :) Happy baby now, Spoiled! He rules the house! I wouldn't have it any other way either!
